Guy here-I had several things in mind when I was beanie shopping: Soft, low bulk, quality non-itchy wool. The Emerson has delivered in all areas perfectly.
I wanted a dark-colored beanie that I could wear "The Edge" styleclose to my head and cuffed. In that role The Emerson is perfect. Wool is soft and stretchy, very low bulk, warm but not sauna-hot. I don't sweat in it. It's a near perfect look and function.
I find I also wear it uncuffed and a little saggy, particularly with glasses or sunglasses.
The video on Coal's website is misleading. On the model, this beanie looks floppy/saggy even when cuffed. Small head on that guy, maybe. On me, it's a very versatile look, from close-fitting streamlined to saggy-cool depending on weather and mood.
Overall quality is extremely good, better than expected. Fairly priced at $35 and a good deal at anything below that.Light weight and most importantly warm! Not itchy like wool can be sometimes. Keeps my head much warmer than other hats I've bought.
