Just a reminder to anyone buying: you might want to step down one size (i.e. get a large if you normally wear x-large). I bought this hat and it was huge for an x-large! Even though I liked the styling, the hat would have easily blown off in the Tucson wind so I had to return it. Luckily, this hat was eligible for amazon easy-returns (not sure if it's called that). Good price and good quality, just be aware of the size difference.

It is a great hat for sun protection; the brim is wide. Looks stylish. Only problem: The shape is not smooth, as it appears in photo. One lady steamed hers, and that might work. Also, the edge of brim has a wire for shaping, and that has to be kept smooth, or it looks wobbly.

I am very pleased with this hat. I take a large, and this hat feels true to size. It fits well and is comfortable. It's easy to adjust the brim to the shape that you like. It gives good protection from the sun and helps keep your head cool. The price is very reasonable. I also wear baseball cap style hats in the summer sun, but this works much better.

Numerous other folks here have mentioned that the sizing on this particular hat runs large. It sure does. I have two other Dorfman Pacific hats in the same style. With both, the large size is too tight whereas the XL fits just fine. So because of this, I disregarded cautionary words by others, and ordered this hat in XL. Well, I should have disregarded my previous experience with DF hats and ordered a large. The hat in XL is way too big. So I've ordered an exchange in the smaller size.

Also, others have mentioned the packaging. They are correct on that score as well. Mine arrived all crumpled up, even though the box it was shipped in was not damaged in any way and was easily large enough not to require the hat be stuffed into it. Go figure. It must be that the hat is misshapen BEFORE it gets packed. Since the shape of the brim is controlled by a wire embedded around the edge, it'll take a bit of patience and finessing to get the wire back into shape so that the brim looks reasonably smooth instead of all wavy and misshapen.

Nonetheless, I would recommend this hat, particularly if you need to keep the sun off of your head. And since it features a wide brim, it will do a decent job of shading your face as well. The construction of the hat is good, and if anything like the other two DP hats I wear regularly, it will last a good long while.

I Love the shape and fit of this hat. I looks great on and is very functional but if you need to wash it it is ruined because the wire support in the brim rusts and bleeds through on the brim. So great hat, but will not look all that great in the long run. If they had only used a stainless wire it would be perfect!!!
