Yes, the wind does bend the brim in higher winds (we sail from Hood River, Oregon, famous for it's windsurfing winds and is a bit of a distraction). But, considering the hat is designed to pack flat, is very lightweight and very comfortable, I raised my rating to 5 stars realizing this is more of a hiking sun protective hat, rather than a sailing hat, especially in 15-25 MPH winds.
THE ORIGINAL REVIEW:
My daughter wore it first when we took our sailboat out and said the brim was too "floppy"; blowing down in front of her eyes (the brim is quite flexible) or against the side of her face. I've since worn it and for fit and staying on your head without the strap it works well in light winds. In heavier breezes the included chin strap is a must as the brim is quite wide (great sun protection) so the wind has a large surface area to work on and as stated above is not stiff enough to withstand the pressure. The crown has no stiffening in it so it just collapses when you take it off, so great for travel to sunny climes. I really like the hat, but won't use it for sailing, but great for lounging after with that cool drink.

Hat gives great protection, but brim is wide and in a howling wind might not be so good. I did order a second hat with a smaler brim, which is actually more comfortable. But this is very light weight and comfortable.
