I had been wearing a finely woven straw hat with a 4 inch brim. That hat is not washable and needs to avoid water. The Bailey Columbia Western Hat is far superior and I am enjoying it for daily wear to keep the sun off my head. The only thing I would change about this hat is to make the brim a little wider. Still, the brim is wide enough at 3 1/4 inches.

The Columbia is a perfect fit for me and very comfortable. the chin strap is very useful on a windy day and it is so comfortable I do not notice it is there. The wool felt is water resistant, so I do not worry about damaging the hat if it starts to rain. The shape of the brim can be changed a little if needed. After a long walk I turn the liner inside out and rinse it with water to remove the sweat. Water beads up on the felt part of the hat and I take a towel and blot the water up, then hang the hat up to dry.

I really like the fact this hat is made in the USA. You can tell it is a quality product. It is very comfortable and a very good looking hat. The hat band is simple and attractive. I will definitely buy another Bailey brand hat in the future.

My husband is a "hat guy" and the Bailey Columbia is one of his go to hats for when he is outdoors. It is made of a crushable wool felt, which makes it easy to pack away when on the go. It also has a leather chin strap, with wood stopper, to keep the hat from blowing off. It's a nice feature, especially on windy days, but keeping it out of the way when not in use can be kind of a pain. My husband just wraps it over the brim of the hat, behind the crown and that seems to work fine.

Overall I love the look of the hat and so does he! The crown is not too high, so it has a lower profile appearance than other Western hats. The brim is the right width both aesthetically and functionally. The lighter color does mean that stains will show up more than on a darker hat, but for many the weathering is part of the charm of a hat.

My husband says the hat is very comfortable to wear, was true to size and is very happy with it.

Good quality, fit, style, and comfort, at a fair price. The chin cord is useful outdoors and works well even in strong wind. If I were to buy another hat, I would buy Bailey with confidence.
