I've spent years looking for a comfortable hat to keep the scorching sun off my head. I've tried expensive cowboy hats of all kinds of materials, and many other styles of hats. Finding this hat has been a revelation. The brim is nice and wide, but not too stiff or too droopy. It hangs perfectly to keep the sun off my face. The center of the hat is made of a mesh material which keeps the sun off my pate while letting the heat escape. The fit is absolutely perfect for my head, and the color goes well with any clothes. My only issue is with the crappy knob on the string. You're supposed to use it to make the string tighter or looser under your chin, but it always slips down. It's not sprung like most such items, it's just a ball of wood with a hole in it. Easily replaced with a better one, though, so it's hard to complain.I've been using this hat for 3 months now, and it's held up very well. I wear it almost every day, and I'm a heavy sweater, especially through the head. I've run it through the washer (HE washer on a gentle cycle) and it came out good as new.
My long search for the perfect hat has finally ended.

I bought this hat six years ago (in olive green) when I started volunteering at the San Antonio Zoo. It has seen a tremendous amount of moderately hard use since that time, and has been all I could ask for in any hat. The brim has maintained its form, the hat hasn't shrunk, and it's just beginning to show the tiniest wear at the crown. I throw mine in the sink with a little Woolite every few months to clean the sweat stains out of the brim (it's HOT here in the summer!) and then it's good-to-go again! I still regularly get compliments on it. Probably the best value for my $35 bucks I've ever gotten. I'm seriously satisfied!Honest reviews on Henschel Aussie Crushable Soft Mesh Breezer
I have worn a lot of baseball caps and the like over the years and have been looking to update my look and wardrobe to deal with working in the sun in a tropical setting. I don't really care for the look of "sun hats" or fishing hats as I tend to think of them. I have tried looking for an outdoorsy type of hat for awhile to protect from the sun and not look like a washed up rock star. I wanted a large brim that was firm but not stiff as a board. After much research I decided to go with this Henschel 5301 Outdoor hat. I looked at the Dorfman(two n's?) twill hats and figured I should go with a more breathable (mesh-like top part) hat for my situation. It was between this hat and the Dorfman version but decided to go with the Henschel since they seemed like they might be a better quality after visiting their website.
I got it in the mail yesterday and I am amazed. It fits really well, which was a concern I had with buying a hat online. I got a 2X (the head measurement I took was 24" approx.) and when I bend all the way over it stays lightly on my head almost never falling off (it comes with a strap so whatever, even if it does fall off...).
Quality seems really top notch. As I said, this is my first non-ball cap hat so I don't have that great of a reference point however it seems to be a very well manufactured hat. Stitching is tight and sturdy. The 'style' is very masculine looking and despite my worry of having the mesh part be too 'see through' it looks very good on my head. I haven't had a chance to test it too much but it is definitely crushable and overall very sturdy hat for general and field use.
I tend to wear my clothes until they are falling apart, and I feel that this hat was a good purchase for me (especially since I got it from a textbook trade in...). It is a nice style, well made, and very light and comfortable on my head. I would recommend this hat to people who want to be protected from the sun and are looking for a wide, nicely brimmed breathable hat. Very good purchase for what I think is a decent value.
