I was looking for a hat with lights, but one with red LEDS for night tasks (so my night vision wouldn't be destroyed each time I use the light!). I got 2 hats; this one and the 'PowerCap Navigator 6-LED Navy Unstructured Flashlight Pilot Cap'. I love the 6-LED Navigator hat; it is much more versatile, but more complex and much more expensive. If you're looking for a cap for map reading in the car at night, evening canoeing, telescoping the night sky, night photography or getting around the house in the wee hours without waking your spouse and pets, this will fit the bill, at a great price. This company also offers the same hat, but with white LEDs for just a little more.

This hat is large for my female head, and I need to keep the back tight so it doesn't fall over my eyes. I think the velcro closure on this hat is a little nicer than on the 6-LED Navigator hat; it holds quite tight and the velcro seldom catches my hair. I didn't think I'd like the structured hat style, but it is very helpful in making the hat sit correctly and stay put.

The color is much more muted than it looks in the photo. The LEDs are under the brim, which makes a clean looking visor. This is a nice, practical and good looking hat at a nice price.
