In my never-ending quest to find the perfect gloves to keep my arthritic hands warm, I'm trying these Gordini Challenge Mitts this year. I am hopeful these will actually provide comfort.
Primaloft is reportedly equivalent to 550-fill goose down. According to the specs (look for 'primaloft' on wikipedia), it is better at retaining heat when wet than down, and has other advantages over down (doesn't bunch up when wet or washed, hypo-allergenic, doesn't require killing or live-plucking birds, etc.) And Gore-Tex is just awesome, it is by far the best waterproof material I've even come across in any garments.
The least bit of cold causes my fingers to feel like they're burning in pain, and then takes a long time before they're warm enough to function again (for example, to be able to button or zipper clothing, count out dollar bills, use a pen, etc.) So I've decided to switch to mittens this year because gloves just do not keep my fingertips warm, no matter how thick the insulation, and not to mention they're usually so thick they force my fingers to spread apart which also causes pain. My last gloves I would curl my fingers into the palm section to keep them warm and prevent painfulness. It's hard to drive a car with your hands fisted inside a pair of gloves!
I have not received the gloves to test out yet, but I am expecting good results (eg, warm fingers! :) If I have any problems I will be sure to update this review. Otherwise, I don't think I'll find a better deal (paid $30 for the women's and $40 for the men's mitts) short of paying well over $50 for a set of 600-fill (or better) Gore-Tex & down gloves.
