I received my new Pantropic Classic Fedora Panama hat today and am very pleased. I don't usually like straw hats because they're so stiff but I need something cool for the summer. This hat was described as extra soft and along with the clean but classy styling, I thought I'd give it a try.
I couldn't be happier! The hat is very soft for a straw hat, easily as soft as a cotton or linen hat, yet seems to hold its shape well. It is light in weight, the weave is very close yet breathes cleanly, and my wife says that I look very good in it. Frankly, with that last it's not a hat it's a miracle!
It's going to be my regular summer hat for work and evenings out where my stained old Tilley would look out of place and a felt hat would be just too hot.
I ordered it via the internet over the Memorial Day weekend; the shipping info said it would be here by the following Wednesday; it arrived much quicker than that, on Thursday of Memorial Day week, six days early. Great service and well packed.

Although I have been accused of trying to look like Michael Jackson, I love the way this hat fits, the way that it shades my face, and the fact that it is so comfortable that I frequently forget to take it off after entering the house after my walk.

This is a nice looking straw hat, and one that I've received a least a few compliments on wearing. I will say this, however; it's an extremely soft, flexible straw hat. Almost insubstantial, though not quite. Compared to a Stetson Airway or any of SunBody's Guatemalan or Mexican palm straw hats, it's downright flimsy. That said, it is sharp as a tack in terms of appearance, and actually quite perfect for wearing in the summer, and the sun. So, I like it, it's handsome, but I wouldn't count on it for travel or long life. I actually put two band-aids in the inside crown just to give it a scoonch more rigidity. Maybe I just have a "thing" for more rigid straw hats, which this is not.

Though maybe intended for men, I'm a lady and LOVE the hat! It's perfect for a stylish way to get some protection from the sun! Everyone I see while wearing the hat give me compliments on how good it looks! I even sent the link over to a few friends who demanded to know where I got the hat so that they could purchase one for themselves. Just for sizing issues, I wear a 27 3/4 size hat and ordered a large which fit perfectly. If you order the hat you won't regret it!

The ribbon was not to my taste but the quality of the weave is excellent. I replaced the original ribbon with a narrower white one.
