This product gets five stars for quality alone. It is simple and well made. What makes this hot weather hat especially useful is the wire band that keeps the brim extended. Under Arizona sun, the color needs to be the lightest, but the ventilation is great, as is the resistance to windy weather.

My wife and I got a pair of these for walking about in the sun for extended periods. They are just the right size for shade. I use the chin strap to hang it on my back when I need to get it out of the way, or keep it on my head in a stiff breeze. The ventilation in the crown works OK. The surprising part: we (well, she) will get at least one or two compliments a day about them when we wear them out and about. They resist squashing pretty well. All in all, cool hats. (We actually bought spares.)

My husband has been wearing some version of this packable ventilated "cowboy" hat for more than 10 years. We bought the 1st on a motorcycle trip to Oatman, AZ. cuz you could flatten it and put it in the luggage on the bike. We continued to go to Oatman, AZ to buy replacements when the previous was too worn and sweat stained, but our last visit unsuccessful. They only had XL and my husband wears Medium, has since he was in the Army 40 yrs ago. So, I came to my favorite place to shop to see what I could find. It had to have the mesh crown with a good sun shield in the front (we are in Arizona after all), a chin cord for when we are in the Mustang with the top down, and it ABSOLUTELY had to be packable. This product meets all those criteria, as well as being practical, lightweight, a lovely chocolate brown and makes my husband look even more handsome.

It came well packed and undamaged. The workmanship is without flaw. The price was very affordable, as was the shipping. I can't say enough good about the product or the company. We will do business again.

TL;DR: best hat I ever owned.

I wear this hat on a daily basis. Being a farmer, the hat has seen every kind of abuse in the past two years: heavy rain, snow, being run over, the lot. It is still fine, although it's getting a little stinky from all the sweat. So far, this has been one of the most durable piece of clothing I ever bought, and the best hat by a long shot.

However, what really does it for me is that Barmah is the only brand that carries a size that fits my head. I have a very thick skull (and thus a big head), and no other hats ever fits quite right. The largest size from pretty much every other brands are always a little too tight to be comfortable. Barmah's XXL are the only hats that I can wear comfortably for an extended period of time.
