I wanted a new reasonably well-insulated cap with a bill and earflaps. Based on past experience Outdoor Research makes quality products. Less expensive caps seemed less well insulated. There isn't that much more to say. It's comfortable. It's warm. I recommend it unless you think it looks too dorky in which case you'll probably choose something else.

I purchased the XL size which according to Amazon is sized to fit up to 7 and 3/4 which is usually a comfortable fit for me. The XL size was substantially smaller than advertised and very uncomfortable for me, but I gave it to my 9 year old son who was able to use it with the adjustable cord pulled tight. Apart from the sizing issue, it's a nice hat and kept his head warm when we spent days outside with temps in the high 40's F. He'll be able to grow into it. We didn't use it in windy conditions so I can't speak to the ear flaps issue noted by others.

I thought it was very comfortable to wear and light. The brim of the hat is short. I will order anther hat just like this one. Hope they will have better choices of colors to choose from.

Very tight fit the xtra large is more a medium/large size. Also too bad the front brim isn't longer. Would not recommend.

The cap is warm and comfortable. It folds neatly along a "hinged" brim, which allows it to be stored in your pocket when not in use. The finish and feel are high quality. The color Abyss ("blue" by any other name) is attractive.

Be forewarned that the fit is small; i.e., if you ordinarily wear a "large", you'll need an "XL". Even the "XL" feels a bit snug.

With the ear flaps tucked in the smooth material tends to slide if you tip your head back. You'll find yourself "adjusting" it back into place.

I'm enjoying the cap and it is very warm and comfortable.
