This is my first Acrylic hat. I've bought both wool and cotton Decky hats; they were both well made. This time, I thought I'd try an acrylic hat. I live in NM where the temperatures are often warm. I wore the wool cap out after about a year's use. The cotton hat lasted a summer but I washed it a few times which shortened it's lifespan. I've had the acrylic hat for about 6 months and it's holding up great. It's also not uncomfortable to warm on a hot day.
My head size is 7 1/2" and I often purchase a 7 5/8" and shrink it down to fit my melon. Since this hat isn't suppose to shrink, I bought a 7 1/2". It was too big when I got it. I soaked it in hot water and dried it with my wife's hairdryer which shrank it almost to the right size. I can live with the fit. The color hasn't faded (black) like a wool and cotton hat will and the crown as retained it's shape.
For the price, this is an excellent hat for those of us that don't like to wear advertising nor wear team colors.
