My daughter is a college freshman, walking to classes in Blacksburg, VA where the climate is much chillier than she'd been used to. She sent me the link to this item, saying she needed a warm hat that would stay on when the wind blows. After ordering, it was delivered to her dorm in just a few days and she loves it. The reason I didn't rate it 5 stars it only comes in muted colors.

I like a hat with ear flaps that don't *look* like ear flaps; this one has a nice shape and keeps my ear lobes from freezing. The tassels are a bit short, though: there is no way to tie them under your chin. It is somewhat effective to tuck them into your collar or under your scarf, though; if you don't, wind will get under. They are very well insulating when held in place, though.
