This was exactly what I was looking for. A boonie hat with a smaller brim and buttons on the side for a cowboy hat look when the sun is down. Medium size was perfect for my 7 1/4 head.

I wear this when fishing, gardening and out at the shooting range. The size is about right; it does shrink a little after being wet. I had one like this during the first Gulf War (lost it to a Filipino girlfriend there, whole long story) and it seems to be a great hat to keep the sun off my head.

I wear a medium size but it fits a bit too big I am hoping that after washing it, it will shrink. The biggest gripe I have is the cord to tighten it is a bit to long but other than that it gets the job done.

Make sure you order the correct size. I'm sure the 'bad' reviews of this product were all written by moolies that ordered the wrong size. This hat is awesome for the price. I like the fact that there's 'snap buttons' on either side of your head, so you can let your ears breath if its hot out. Also, I used it in semi-cold weather (36 F) this weekend, and you can mat the sides down nice a snug to keep your ears warm and pretty well blocked from wind. The strap is long, and gets in the way sometimes but it's easy enough if you don't need the hat on tight, to just put the loop behind you or what I do, bunch it up in the hat, and then put it on. I don't even notice it's ontop my head. Buy the damn thing if you're looking for a good fishing/hunting/hiking/ranger hat.
