I have a shaved head, so I take my hats seriously. With that, this hat is quite soft and has a substantial thickness. I expected it to be a bit more slouchy, but that's ok. Nice hat!

It's just as good as any other knit beanie I've owned in my life based on initial quality and my first few wearings. Unless it beings to fall apart within the first few years, I'll have no qualms about paying $10-15 for it. It's a one-size-fits-all, my hat size in 7 1/8, and it fits snugly without stretching excessively. The bottom edge is folded up not quite two full inches and still it covers my brow and most of my ears, with the top being fully snug to my dome.

I'm a girl and bought this hat anyway because I like the colors and though it looked comfortable, and I was right! It kept my head and ears warm and looked nice, and I love that it's Dakine. However, I wore it backpacking for hours at a time and eventually it would start to itch my forehead, which was very irritating. I had to start wearing a band under it to protect my skin. I really wish this had a felt lining. I may try to sew one on myself, but if it doesn't work, I'll get another one because itching so much makes it not functional.
