I tried a lot of balaclavas, scarves, and other stuff to cut down wind on my neck in the winter. Most of them did that job, but usually with side effects the most common of which was fogging the face shield, even when I left it open a crack.
This doesn't appear to be designed for that purpose, but it works really well anyway, especially if you combine it with a beard or goatee so you don't have to try to wear it over your mouth and nose. I lost my first one on the highway when I didn't seal the velcro properly.

It's light , it wraps with velcro. It covers more cheek area than a balaclava. I prefer this in combination with a hat instead of the balaclava. . ideally it would be better formed around the nose so your breath doesn't back up into your goggles. So far that's not an issue. Best part is it doesn't just come in dismal black but other colors that a male person wouldn't mind wearing.
