I was unaware of how dark the flap is. My thinking is that the hat would be absolutely perfect if the flap, which can be removed via snaps, were sun-reflecting white and, if it had a strap/string to tie under my chin while I'm biking.
I really like that the flap is screen mesh-like which allows air to circulate around the neck.

I work construction and this hat helps me stay a lot more comfortable. I used to hang a bandana under my hat but u could never get your neck completely covered. One slight downside is u loose a little peripheral vision.Best Deals for Talson UV Flap Cap - Grey W15S48D
Brim.big enough for serious sun protection but not so big as to be awkward or in the way. Drape keeps sun out but lets the breeze flow through. Drape covers up better than similar caps. The front of the drape can be pulled back for adequate protection and better peripheral vision or pulled forward for ultimate protection.Honest reviews on Talson UV Flap Cap - Grey W15S48D
Talson UV Flap Cap:With all of today's conern about melanoma, one can't help but wonder "what have all my years of unprotected sun-worship done to my skin"? Having a friend I'd known since grade school diagnosed with melanoma, watching as he succumbed to this horribly aggressive form of cancer, seeing him lose the battle in agonizing fashon within a few months of being diagnosed shocked me into being more concious about the effects of sun exposure. Being an avid angler I send many days a year on the water, from dawn to dusk, getting double exposure form the sun and UV reflection. I searched for some time before buying this product and own both a white and grey. It has not disapointed. It is much cooler to wear than expected and has provided all the protection promised. At times the wrap around shade becomes a bit annoying, especially in windy situations, however this is a small price to pay for the protection this hat provides. I am very satisfied with this item and would reccomend it highly to anyone looking for releif form the negative effects of prolonged exposure to the sun itself and it's reflective UV rays.
