I own several styles of Kangol's and wish there were more reviews on them on Amazon. It's tough to know how a Kangol is going to to fit ahead of time since you usually can't go to your local shopping mall and try on all their styles, especially the more obscure ones like this Herringbone 504. I own the Kangol Herringbone 504 in Black, which due to the pattern looks more of a grey. I own this in size Large. I'm normally a 7 3/8 in New Era 5950 baseball caps if that helps.

To compare this Herringbone 504 to the Classic 504 Ventair, which is probably Kangol's most popular one ever, this is definitely sturdier and more hat for about the same price. They are a perfect compliment to each other though; one for the summer and this for winter.

The Herringbone 504 fits differently though than the Ventair. The Herringbone fits a little snugger, especially in terms of height/rise on the hat. It feels a little shallow, but that helps keep a nice sleek look to it. It also fits a little wider though, but again, it looks great. If anything, it's a bit smaller than the usual Kangol sizing, so if in-between, probably go up a size.

If you were hoping for the cool, classic kangaroo KANGOL logo on the hat, it's not there. There's a little tab on the left side that's under-stated, which I prefer. This hat folds very flat, so it's perfect for packing on a trip in a suitcase.

Also, the material is listed as wool, but that's the exterior, so people who are allergic/itchy, don't worry. There is a satin lining and the usual Kangol stretchy sweatband inside.

Lastly, and probably most importantly, the Herringbone 504 looks amazing 'on'. This is easily my favorite warm-weather hat. It's a classic newsboy cap that is timeless and always stylish. I think this hat is a tremendous value for the money too. Definitely recommended. I only wish it were colder here in Arizona so I could wear this hat more often!

This hat is my second favorite hat I own, it's comfortable, old fashion and just looks really good with long curly hair! If ordering, try to go a size up since these run smaller then stated.

I have a fat head (a bit bigger than 7 1/2) and so XL is perfect. Highly recommended for Northern Utah's late falls and winters.
