I originally bought the Brixton "Brood" which was a really awesome hat. It was similar in style to the Barrel, but it was almost bigger in appearance and had a little different look to it. I really liked the Brood, but decided to go with someone else because I had already owned it before.
I went with the Barrel because it looked similar and they had the color I wanted (black tweed). The hat fits perfect for a Medium (58cm). This is slightly larger than New Era's 7 1/4 size as they tend to shave off a quarter of an inch for some reason. For this reason New Era hats don't fit me at all. So if you are used to New Era sizing guide, I might look elsewhere for comparison.
The hat itself is great. it's made well, light, but warm, and looks good on. It feels very comfortable too which is a must. I honestly like the Brood's style a little better than the Barrel which is the only reason I am giving it a 4 and not a 5.
Both hats are good, but if I had to choose I would suggest the Brood. It's pretty awesome as well.This is a nice hat, but be aware this hat has a very wide brim for a flat cap. If you have a smaller or narrower face, this hat might be too wide for you.
