Fits well. Waterproof. Great sun protection. Durable. It has become my favorite hat for outdoor activities. I recommend to all hikers, backpackers, and so on. I wish it came in more colors, though.

This is a handsome and eyecatching hat, with the wide brim (3 1/8") and high crown (4 1/4"). An authentic Aussie Outback hat in appearance, it is in fact made in China. Out of the box, I was put off because it was stiff-almost like it was made of cardboard, but after wearing it twice in the rain, when dry the hat was a bit softer and less stiff. Waterproofing is effective. Even though the topside of the hat was saturated after nearly an hour in heavy rain, my head and the underside of the crown and brim were dry.

The wide brim gives good protection from the sun. I generally wear a size 7 and this one in medium fits comfortably. The brim is edged with wire and can be shaped to your personal preference. Should last for several years, and get softer with each wearing, I'm thinking. The dark colors-mine is brown-could be uncomfortably hot for warm weather wear, although the large vented crown might have some cooling effect. Hat gets curious and admiring looks from guys and gals alike.
