This has a very high-quality feel and look. Both the materials used and the construction, including stitching are as good as I expected.
There are many types of newsies/ivys. I see the biggest style differences in these three things: The length of the bill, if the bill is sewn into the hat (some have a conductor like top where there is open hat over the bill, some have a button that clips the hat down to the top of the bill, some have a bill that is sewn directly into the cap), and how much excess material is around the hat.
Bill length: Medium I prefer this lenght. Looks good on any face.
Bill/hat connection: Sewn together. I prefer this, button downs and conductor styles don't look good on me. I need a streamlined profile.
Excess material: Little. It's not completely flush to the side of my head, as I prefer, but it's pretty close. Again, the less extra material around the hat, the better for me, as I need a streamlined look. That isn't to say that wide caps with excess material looks bad, they just don't look good on me.
Fit: I usually wear a medium in these types of hats because, while a medium is usually pretty snug, a large is usually a little too big. However, measured my noggin and used the size chart and ended up being just big enough for a large. I ordered the large and it fits pretty well. I think I'd have been less comfortable in a medium.
The contrasting color and pattern on the underside of the bill looks great and was well executed.
The one complain I have about this is the label. There is a 1x1cm2 PE (Perry Ellis) tag that sticks out of the side of the hat. Since it STICKS OUT, it ruins the profile. Not to worry though. A simple single stitch with brown or beige thread will tack it down and help make it more discrete. You can also do what I did and have a tailor remove it for 5 bucks.
