Review of Stetson Men's Sturgis Pinchfront Crushable Wool Felt Hat

I bought this hat for my brother to replace one that was lost. I love the hat, and the fact that it is waterproof and will take back its shape after being crushed. What I wasn't crazy about was receiving this hat from the seller flattened out. Had I not opened it and transferred it to another box, it would have sat under the tree all through half of November and all of December, completely flat. I have no doubt the hat would have taken back its shape, but these hats are expensive, and that is not a chance I was willing to take.

The price was good, but I would have been willing to pay more for shipping in order to have it shipped in its normal Stetson box, which also make good storage boxes for these hats in the top of a closet, rather than have it flattened to make it smaller, so it would fit in a smaller box and be cheaper to send.

My husband is a hat guy and the Stetson Sturgis hat is in his collection. It is a crushable wool felt hat, so you can pack it up and travel with it and it will still keep its shape. My husband doesn't crush the hat it a lot, but when he has, it's popped back to shape with no problems.

Good:

It's a real Stetson: There is something about wearing a real Stetson that makes him like the hat even more!

Sturdy feel: Unlike other hats on the market, the Sturgis feels very solidly made and holds its shape very well.

Color: The color is a dark, chocolate brown and we both love the appearance.

Not so good:

Sizing: The sizing is not as true. For my husband it runs a little large, which seems to be a common concern about this hat. He has an XL and the XL is a shade too big, but the L was a bit too snug. He just placed a folded paper towel in the brim to make the hat fit the way he wants it too.

Pinch front: He does wish the pinch front were a little "tighter", kind of like the Indiana Jones style.

Overall a solid Stetson hat and one that he enjoys wearing.

I sometimes forget I'm even wearing it and sometimes wear it indoors just because I can.
