This is in most ways a beautiful hat...the fur felt is lovely, the silk lining, genuine leather internal sweat band and well-crafted genuine leather outer hat band are classy. Only four stars, however, because of a few flaws: excess glue in several places around the external hat band...most of which could be removed but not all. This gives the impression of slightly sloppy workmanship, which is not what you expect from a Borsalino that costs over $200.
I was very impressed by the service of Delmonico Hat Co....very quick (and free) shipping and a very nice hat box included at no extra charge (I have paid $10 or more for similar boxes in the past). I'm sure that Delmonico would have taken the hat back and exchanged it, but I chose not to do this as it would have meant more work for me and there is no guarantee that the next hat would have been better. So, I will live with the minor imperfections.
Incidentally, the external leather band on the black hat is brown...I would have preferred black, but can live with the brown. Also, the crown and brim are quite stiff...if you want a crushable hat, this one is not it.
