The hat is very warm. It is what I expected. It is made of quality materials and the workmanship is what I expected. The information on size determination was very helpful. If you have a huge head like the fellow I ordered this for, get the XXXL. My guy won't let me try to exchange it, but I can tell it's a bit snog. Maybe it will stretch. Anyway, it's a great hat, well made out of fabulously fake fur. The Russian insignia is a removable pin. You can replace it with something else or nothing if that's what you prefer. Come to think of it, a Rhinestone brooch would look dandy and then I could wear it myself! Okay, so here's the skinny on this very awesome hat.Craftsmanship? 100% Awesome sauce. It's built like a friggin tank. Materials? It's soft all over and the lining on the interior is smooth and comfortable. Functionality? The thing is definitely designed for cold weather days. Kept my noggin nice and toasty in 42 degree weather while cruising in a topless, doorless Jeep. (Yes, I do that. It's a Jeep thing. LoL)
All in all, a great hat....but...the sizing wasn't perfect. If you wear a 7 5/8's or up, you may want to search for the 3X version of this hat. The 2X is just shy of a 7 3/4's size hat and, technically, it's a 2X hat, but it was definitely very snug. I've slowly stretched the item out to about a 7 7/8's which is what I normally wear. Stretching was done by simply tugging at the thing little by little while wearing it. As previously stated, this hat is built very well so it doesn't stretch easily, but you can get a little room out of her if you're persistent.
Now, I know a few of you will wonder why I didn't just order the 3X to begin with. Well, firstly, it wasn't available on the drop down menu of this particular seller, with the largest available as 2X only. Secondly, by the time I discovered a 3X option, I had already began stretching the hat which I assume would make trying to return the thing a bit of a headache. Anywho, good hat, fast delivery, buy with confidence if this is the size you need, and enjoy watching Hunt for Red October, Rocky IV, and/or Red Heat in absolute style and comfort.
