I bought this for my Eazy-E costume to go on top of a jheri curl wig and it did the job except I had to leave the "snaps" unfastened.
Without the wig, this hat is a VERY tight fit around my head at the largest possible setting in the back (two "snaps" or whatever you call it. It won't hold together with the single last one fastened)
When I had a fitted 51/50 cap, I think I wore a 7 3/4 comfortably, I really can't remember. I'd say if you need to wear 7 1/2, you may have some trouble.
