This hat has been around in my school theater's costume department for years now, we just used it for our actor playing Ebenezer Scrooge, and it's still looking crisp and clean. A very professional look and sturdy craftsmanship... been dropped I don't know how many times and still fine, though I would still warn that these can get pretty dinged up without proper care and storage. Also very comfy and well-fitting on just about everyone who has tried it on, almost didn't want to put it back again.
While it's a beautiful hat and effective for our character costuming, I don't think I'd personally pay for this as a costume or formal dress piece beyond the theater or very special events. It all depends on how much money you're willing to pay for the good quality offered here.

The first thing to note about this hat is that it's built to last. This thing is a tank. I'm sure one could go about ruining it, but you'd really have to try.
Second, although the hat fit they give is spot on (I'm a 7 1/2, so I ordered an XL) it is HUGE! Almost comically so. Mad hatter is not an exaggeration, the top of the hat easily sits 3-4 inches above the top of my head. Definitely not a subtle look.
As an added bonus, it's made here in the states. I didn't think it was possible, but lo and behold, I can proudly buy American.

Just received my top hat. It's awesome, everybody should have at least 1.
This is not an overpriced novelty costume piece, it is a real top hat made out of real felt. None of that flimsy plastic crap you find at Party City or similar shops.
If you're looking to put together some type of period costume that requires a top hat this is a great place to start.

These top hats were wonderful for a late afternoon wedding outside. The quality was top notch. They tended to run a bit small in size. We had to return for a larger size but the turn a round time & service was great!

Amazon calculated a delivery time between Thursday, August 16, 2012 and Friday, August 31, 2012 after I had purchased the item. I needed it way before estimated time. I then contacted the seller with the newly discovered problem. The seller immediately replied, and was very helpful in speeding up the delivery time. the package was ordered August 02 and collected at the postal office in my country August 07. Very satisfied with the seller. Hat feels a little light, but comfortable to have on the head. You will actually forget about wearing the hat after some time. It fits, but a little smaller in size (diameter) than the size guide showed and from what I expected. Thanks for a nice hat and good service.
