Kangol Bamboo 507 Cap Review

I own a lot of styles of Kangol's and wish there were more reviews on them on Amazon. It's tough to know how a Kangol is going to to fit ahead of time since you usually can't go to the mall and try them on, especially the more obscure ones like this one. I own the Bamboo 507 in Grey, size Large. I'm normally a 7 3/8 in New Era 5950 baseball caps if that helps.

The hat is made of the new bamboo blend, which is one of my favorite materials. It's quite soft and feels good, much better than the normal tropic poly/blends. It ends up keeping its shape very well for being a rather breathable material. The Bamboo 507 doesn't seem as duck-billed as the Tropic 507 does. This hat does NOT have the classic big Kangol kangaroo logo on the back, which is fine if you're looking to be a bit more understated. The brim is pretty short. I don't think it's too useful for keeping the sun out. So if I just based this hat review on looks and materials, it's fantastic.

However, if you look at the picture(s) provided on the site, you can see there is a TON of headroom in the back/rear/upper part of the hat. It feels very poorly-sized because of that. I feel like I'm continually pulling the hat forward a lot because of it, like there's a gap back there. Or I have to pull it very far down to make it feel snug. So that is by far my biggest complaint with the hat. If you can see a 360 rear-view of this hat, you'll see how unnaturally tall/high the back-rise is.

I bought this thinking it was going to be really nice and narrow and form-fitting, but was wrong unfortunately. I think that's always the goal for me (trying to find something with tighter, cleaner lines than a normal 504), but this one's just really off, which was extremely disappointing to me as a big Kangol fan. I think I would recommend going down a size on this hat if you are going to buy it, but that might cause fit problems with the headband. I hope they trim up the back-of-the-head airspace issues. Because if they could trim up that back-of-the-head over-sizing and make this cap a bit more slim-fitting, this could be a fantastic 5-star cap.

Buying a hat online can be difficult. I actually own a different style of hat from Kangol, which is one of my favorite hats. I went by the size of the previous hat as it was a good fit. This is a very light weight cap and it fits snug and secure. My wife loves the style and the color. I am a huge fan of the fabric and recommend it for warm weather use.

As usual, it was delivered ahead of schedule. I feel the quality is excellent and the price is affordable. I did read from another person to shop the hat styles, colors and sizes as they all vary and the shipping varies. I was shocked to see that much of a price difference with the colors and sizes. Take your time and you will get a good deal.

These are cool & lightweight for warmer weather. The wool ones are perfect for cooler weather. They fit perfectly too! However, the "forest green" really looks like lime green & we had to return it. We kept the navy & putty colors, which were accurate.

So I bought this for my BF because he lost his in Vegas at New Years (so I guess what happens in Vegas really does stays in Vegas!) It was a V-day gift and he loved it....Kinda mad because he said it sould have only cost me $30 and I paid $50. :( but he loved it and that's all that mattered!
